A few days ago I was lucky enough to listen to a phone webinar given by Alex Jeffreys and Rich Schefren. Rich Schefren is the Guru of gurus in the Internet marketing world, Alex Jeffreys is Rich Schefren’s student. Now as you can well imagine this was absolutely fantastic, a chance in million to learn from the Guru himself.

So over the next few posts on my blog I am going to go through the points that Rich Schefren pointed out and lectured on.

The first point was “ A Business By Design.”

What exactly do we mean by a Business By Design?
It would be easy enough to buy an Internet Marketing Business and fall straight into it and carry on and run the Internet Business, but this would probably mean that you spend a great deal of time running the business growing the business and in general making sure the business runs well and makes a profit. This is fine but it is not an ideal situation. You see in order to create a business by design, the business has to fulfil certain criteria. The best way of answering these criteria is to ask certain questions and thus you will have a list of answers.

The first and most important question you need to ask is, what do you want from your Internet Business? This may seem a strange question to ask at first, it’s obvious-I want lots of money-I want a nice car-I want a big house. Okay you may well want all these things and more, but to list them as above you have no real incentive to get these things. This will not drive you to drive your business forward. If you find it difficult to answer this question in any other way try this; list the things you don’t want to do.
I don’t want to get up at 5 AM every day.
I don’t want to commute to and from the office every day.
I don’t want to work from 9 to 5 every day.
I don’t want to work for a boss that is unreasonable.
Okay do you get the idea now? By listing things you don’t want you will then be able to list the things you do want and this is all important.

One of the most powerful pieces of information you can possibly get or hope to get is quite simply-“What Do Your Customers Or Prospects Crave”.? This sounds simple but it is not. If you can find out this piece of information you will be landed. You will be able to position your products, your website ’s and your overall business to suit your customers. This will make your whole business much more streamlined much more focused and much much easier! There is only one way to find out what your customers crave, you have to do the legwork, the ground work, you have to ask the questions, you have to get the answers! When you put up blog posts ask for comments, ask for questions, ask for suggestions of what readers want, ask for suggestions of what your readers are looking for their problems their frustrations.

    The next question you need to answer and this is more to do with you than anyone else I guess is;
What is the purpose of your business.
What is the purpose of your business? Let me ask that in a different way answer me this question.
Why would the world be a worse place without your business? In other words what is the sole purpose of you or business, what does it set out to do? If you can answer this question it will help you focus your business.

The last point in this first section is very simple. It is simple to say, it is simple to understand. But it is far from simple to put into practice. The last point is-the simplest business model works best. The simplest working model works best. Without going into great detail this means keep your business as simple as possible, do not over complicate it. The more complicated a business is, the more people it needs to run it!!! The more people you need to run a business the more expensive the business will be to run

I hope this has sparked a few ideas, it certainly did when I heard it for the first time.

Look out for my next post in a few days where I will explain the next part of Rich Schefren’s Internet Marketing Business Plan.

    To your success.

It is so clean and fresh looking. I am always worried I overdo it myself, to much content you know. Your blog is just right. I would appreciate if you would pass comment on mine just to confirm I haven’t overdone it. On my blog I am doing a theme on successful internet marketers. Really like to know what you think as I am pretty new to all this layout stuff. I hope one day that I can write about your internet success. Keep up the good work

    Steve,

Yep, a business by design… Rich is right.

Money for the sake of money is ridiculous. What don’t you want, leads to what do you want. Then set goals, then get busy.

He gave a lot of great info. Thanks for the reminders.
